The Jamaica Securities Dealers Association (JSDA), under the leadership of Keith Duncan, embarked on an initiative displaying its commitment to the Jamaican Youths and to a wider extent, the Jamaican Society by contributing to the local community through sponsorship of the National Youth Service (NYS) Success Camps held throughout July and August 2005.
The Programme was tailored for high school students with the main aim of ‘Combatting High School Expulsion’ by significantly reducing anti-social tendencies and reintegrating students into our high schools and their curriculum.
The first NYS Success Camp held in July 2005 was fully funded by the JSDA amounting to approximately $J 3 million. This is a first for the JSDA and falls under our Strategic Objectives Umbrella for the year 2005/6. The partnership with the NYS and the JSDA – representing the Private Sector – was indeed an opportunity for both organizations to continue their quest in being socially responsible and thus making a significant difference in areas such as Youth Development which is a critical factor in determining our future success as a nation.
